Chocolate Mousse Recipe: Easy, Light & Creamy Skyr Dessert

Ingredients
  

  • 200 g dark chocolate preferably 80% cocoa, finely chopped
  • 180 g water room temperature – not cold
  • 150 g plain Skyr unsweetened Icelandic yogurt-style dairy

Instructions
 

Step 1: Melt the Chocolate

  • Place the chopped dark chocolate into a heatproof bowl and gently melt it over simmering water (double boiler method) or microwave in short bursts (15–20 seconds), stirring between each until smooth and glossy.

Step 2: Start the Blend

  • Pour room temperature water into your blender jug. Immediately add the melted chocolate on top. This prevents the chocolate from seizing and helps everything blend evenly.

Step 3: Emulsify the Base

  • Blend on medium speed for 30–45 seconds until you achieve a silky chocolate mixture.

Step 4: Add Skyr & Whip In Air

  • Add the plain Skyr and continue blending for another 2–3 minutes. This crucial step infuses the mixture with air, creating that irresistibly airy and delicate texture mousse is known for.

Step 5: Jar & Chill

  • Transfer the mousse to your serving jars or bowls. For neat presentation, gently spoon or pipe the mousse into serving jars. Cover and chill for a minimum of 3 hours, allowing it to set into a rich, creamy consistency.

Step 6: Garnish & Serve

  • Before serving, top with grated chocolate, fresh raspberries, or a spoonful of Skyr for contrast. Serve chilled and enjoy the cloud-like texture!
